Attitude in Giving

05 May

We undoubtedly serve an awesome God, who has chosen to make His abode in us.  When we fully grasp the full meaning of this truth we are inspired to be more like Him in all we DO and SAY.

This is also applicable to our attitude towards giving. In Luke 6:38  we read the following…..”Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands–all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.”

The word “give” in this context is the Greek word didōmi which literally means to “bestow, commit or deliver”.  The question that is asked many times is to what measure have we committed ourselves to the “Rhema” Word of God.    Rhema is the word used to signify the action of utterance.

When the Word of God refers to “giving” it is not only from a financial reference but also in terms of our time, effort and gifting and each of these areas are measured according to the attitude of our hearts.

When giving is mentioned the enemy clouds our minds with a sense of lack rather that abundance.  Paul enlightens us in Rom 12:2 that we should renew our thinking so that we will not conform to the standards and thinking of this world but rather that we must think thoughts of victory that spill over into actions.

Abraham, Moses, Job, Solomon, David and many more people in the word were wealthy and they loved the LORD.  What reasons do we have to drop our standard of expectation in the Lord.
